Abstract
OBJECTIVE
To evaluate fetal motor habituation pattern using kinetocardiotocography. METHODS: Fifty patients, gestational age above 32 weeks, from May to September 1998 have been studied. Kinetocardiotocography[Model: Hewlett-Packard M1350A 50series] was used with vibroacoustic stimulation of 3 seconds duration with 30 seconds interval for 10 to 51 times. RESULTS: Of the 50 patients, 22 showed normal habituation pattern and the remaining 28 showed abnormal habituation pattern. Concerning the factors which may have influenced the pregnancy outcomes, of the 22 patients who had normal habituation pattern, there were 2 obstetric complications. But of the 28 patients who had abnormal habituation pattern, 15 result in PIH, low birth weight, meconium staining, meningitis, hydrocephalus or heart anomaly. CONCLUSION: Kinetocardiotocography can be used in observing fetal motor habituation.
